The Unidos Project will be hosting a community forum and resource fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, at West Mesa High School.

Workshops will be held on a wide range of topics including early childhood, high school and college education; financial literacy;  immigration; health; and career development. The event is free and child care will be provided.

“Health and social issues play a major role in the success of educational pursuits and we want to ensure that our students are given every opportunity to be successful," said Ben Santistevan, principal of West Mesa High School.

The fair is just one way the Unidos Project is working with Albuquerque Public Schools to meet the goal of increasing high school graduation rates. Other partners include The Center for Education Policy Research, the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce and ENLACE. Many of the partners will participate at the fair.

Exhibitors and presenters include:

  • Aging and long-term services
  • Catholic Charities
  • Central New Mexico Community College
  • Innovate+Educate
  • NM Interfaith Coalition for Immigrant Justice
  • NM Department of Workforce Solutions
  • University of New Mexico
  • Youth Development, Inc.

The Unidos Project is one of 13 nationally selected as a recipient of the Lumina Latino Student Success Grant. The project collaborates with sectors in the community to provide support and direction to Latino students with the goals of high school graduation and encouraging enrollment in higher education.

The Community Forum and Resource Fair is made possible through a partnership with the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund and FAFSA.
