Albuquerque Public Schools is hosting a public forum to get input from its stakeholders – employees, parents, students, community members – as it prepares a lean budget for the 2016-17 school year. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at the APS administrative offices (Alice and Bruce King Educational Complex), 6400 Uptown Blvd. NE.

“This is an opportunity for people in the community who have an interest in education to share their thoughts about the budget and to help determine where funds will be spent,” said Tami Coleman, interim chief financial officer for APS.

She added, “The budget process, by its nature, is complicated and time consuming. Input from district administrators, school personnel and members of the community can provide valuable suggestions and insight as we go through this process.”

The meeting is to discuss the APS operational budget for 2016-2017 which is nearly $700 million and includes instruction, student and instructional support, school administration, central services, maintenance and operations and food services.
