About the  IBDP Visual Arts Program: Visual Arts opens up new possibilities and challenges traditional boundaries. This is evident both in the way we make art and in the way we understand what artists from various cultural contexts do. The visual arts course enables students to engage in both practical exploration and artistic production in independent contextual visual and critical investigation.

The course is designed to enable students to study visual arts in higher education and also welcomes those students who seek life enrichment through visual arts. This year twelve students have chosen to take visual arts as one of their standard level (SL) classes. As an assessment students are required to select a minimum of three artists (from different cultural contexts) as an artist of inspiration. They must also maintain a visual journal to record any experiments, trials, process and physical evidence of their journey in IB Visual Arts. Lastly, the third component of this course is to showcase 4-7 artworks created in the span of the past two years in the Diploma program and host an art exhibition such as the one you are seeing today. We hope you enjoy this year’s art exhibition.
