Once again APS students, large and small, will head to the National Hispanic Cultural Center to experience performing arts from a wide variety of cultures. Thanks to a Horizon Grant from the APS Educational Foundation, this year will see 33 performing groups and nearly 1,000 students come to dance, sing and play the performance pieces they’ve worked all year to prepare.

Over the course of two days, students both perform for their peers and have a chance to study something a little new and different.  Folklorico dancers dabble in Hip Hop with UNM’s instructor, Karen Price, Flamenco with Jesús Muñoz and Lebanese line dancing with Ranee Lovato. Guitarist Daniel Ward will introduce guitar students to some fiery Flamenco technique while percussionist John Bartlit delves into the subtleties of rhythm.

Al Gurule and his team of dedicated Mariachi teachers provide inspiration for some two hundred aspiring players. Both days end with a blast of exuberance from the stage for parents and the local community.

FREE tickets available at NHCC box office one hour prior to show.
