The celebration of Dr. King's life and accomplishments provides opportunities for all people to reaffirm the ideas of freedom and justice. An important part of this celebration is honoring New Mexico citizens and organizations who have advanced the values put forth by Dr. King through volunteer work or other activities of great benefits to others.

Honored guests:

Michelle Gonzales, in recognition of her outstanding leadership, volunteer work, tireless effort and activities that have resulted in benefits to others.

Wings for LIFE international, in appreciation for providing support, encouragement and education to those who are incarcerated and their families.

Former U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman, who served four years as attorney general of New Mexico and represented the citizens of New Mexico in the United States Senate for 30 years.

Keynote speaker: Rabbi Stephen Lewis Fuchs, Rabbi Emeritus of Congregation Beth Israel, West Hartford, Ct.

Recipients of the Martin Luther King Jr. Multicultural Council Scholarship will be recognized.

Free admission. Ethnic dress encouraged.
