The Del Norte High School Round Table Student Senate will host a Decommissioning Ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday, May 11, in front of the school's cafeteria.

Students, parents, alumni and community members are invited to attend the ceremony to say goodbye to the old Del Norte High, which opened its doors 48 years ago in 1964. Past and current school presidents will offer a few words of reflection. Del Norte musicians will provide entertainment. And a time capsule filled with memorabilia will be buried. The public is invited to bring items to include in the time capsule for preservation including photographs, notes, ribbons, letters and more.

Workers are putting the finishing touches on a $58.9 million rebuild of Del Norte. Staff will move in over the summer and the school will be open for classes when the new school year begins in August. The next phase of the project is to remove portables and demolish the old building, which opened in 1964. The new student commons, cafeteria and parking lot are scheduled to be completed in the next year.

Don’t miss this opportunity to say farewell to Old Del Norte! The school is located at 5323 Montgomery Blvd. NE (map).
