New Mexico Energy Efficiency Awareness Week Begins Jan. 14

APS Energy Conservation offers suggestions for classroom projects.

Albuquerque Public Schools is joining with the Santa Fe and Rio Rancho school districts and Albuquerque Academy to recognize New Mexico Energy Efficiency Awareness Week Jan. 14-21. 

Gov. Susana Martinez signed a proclamation declaring the statewide event, which is designed to promote energy savings and smart energy use. Schools are encouraged to promote efficient practices that students can share with their families at home. 

The APS Energy STARS (Schools Teaching About Resource Sustainability) program sponsors the effort. Related classroom project ideas for teachers are available at the APS Energy Conservation office’s website.
