Awards & Recognitions Overview
The APS Education Foundation seeks to recognize the students, teachers and contributors that make our classrooms and schools great places to work, play and learn. Please read on to learn about some of the ways that the Foundation partners with business partners and the district to honor outstanding achievement.
The Albuquerque Public Schools Education Foundation, with the support of the district, will debut the APS Hall of Honor in the spring of 2017 – an annual recognition of some of the best educators to grace our classrooms, playing fields and hallways. Up to four awardees will be recognized at a new event – the Gold Bar Gala -- on April 21, 2017 at Sandia Resort.
The best kids in Albuquerque live next door, participate in school activities and volunteer to help their classmates, parents, family members and community. Each class of Selfless Seniors will be recognized at the annual Gold Bar Gala.
Each year, the APS Foundation awards grants to over a hundred educators for their schoolwide initiatives, classroom projects and extracurricular activities. This year, the Foundation will recognize some of the most innovative, promising and successful projects at the Gold Bar Gala.
At the Gold Bar Gala, the APS Education Foundation will honor outstanding corporate partners in education for their philanthropy and visionary partnership.
Pepsi, in partnership with the APS Education Foundation, recognizes an APS teacher each month for his or her outstanding contribution to the classroom, school, and community. In a special ceremony at the teacher's school, the Teacher of the Month is surprised with a video tribute, $100 check from Pepsi and gift card from Flying Star.
The APS Student of the Week is featured in the Albuquerque Journal on Mondays as well as on APS website and our social media venues. Schools are selected at random to choose a student of the week. The task falls to the principal who often seeks staff nominations.
