Tuxes 4 Teachers Nets More than $2,000 for APS Foundation for Third Consecutive Year

Ashley Hanoumis of Suits Unlimited gives Valley Activities Director Patricia Rivera a check for $1,500.

May 22, 2012

For the third straight year, Suits Unlimited has donated more than $2,000 to help APS teachers through its Tuxes 4 Teachers campaign that contributes $10 from every prom tuxedo rental to the APS Education Foundation/Join-A-School Seeds of Learning program.

Seeds of Learning is a grant program designed to help teachers update and design curriculum, obtain needed materials and supplies for classroom activities and bring to life ideas for teaching and learning.

In addition to its contribution to Seeds of Learning, Suits Unlimited gave Valley High School $1,500 for having the most tuxedo rentals during this year’s prom season. “The money can be used for the next big dance, graduation or however the school wants to use it to help make next year an even more successful school year,” said Suits Unlimited President Steve Garcia.

“Once again, we want to thank Suits Unlimited for turning an already fun event – high school prom – into something that benefits APS teachers,” said Phill Casaus, executive director of the APS Education Foundation.

Suits Unlimited, a local business owned by a family of APS graduates, has donated more than $7,000 to the district’s teachers and students through Tuxes for Teachers.
