Taylor MS Appreciates Citi Support

Citi has supported APS initiatives in a variety of ways over the years but a new and individual partnership with Taylor MS has been really rewarding to both partners.

Citi employees and their families volunteered their time recently to improve the landscape in front of Taylor MS

Principal Mike Bateson recently acknowledged Citi for providing a hearty band of volunteers to plant $500 worth of landscaping to beautify the school’s entrance.  According to Melissa Briggs, NM State Director of Community Relations, the Employee Project Leader, Diane Gallegos, mapped out the project, selected the plants, determined plant placement and coordinated with APS. Then the volunteers took over on Friday, June 15.   Principal Bateson says, “The front of our school looks just great thanks to Citi’s hard work and community spirit.”

The entire Taylor team sent a big thank you to Citi for Blake’s breakfast burritos, coffee, and juice for the staff on National Teacher Day.  When a business recognizes and honors teachers, it makes a real difference.   Citi has also agreed to provide support for the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program at Taylor MS and a $500 donation to AVID for 2012-2013 was recently announced.  Interested employees may tutor and also speak to students on education and career topics.  The AVID elective class focuses on those students in the middle who are often not realizing their full potential academically.

The Citi Join-a-School plan also calls for support for families in need during the holiday and volunteers to help sort school supplies during the annual summer school supply drive .  Thanks to Citi for embracing the middle school partnership with “hands on” enthusiasm.
