Successful Golf Tournament Brings in $44,000+

Annual Superintendent's Cup raises money for APS Education Foundation

More than 260 golfers – not to mention generous community partners and volunteers – combined to turn the 2014 Superintendent’s Cup into a major success, with more than $44,000 raised to benefit the APS Education Foundation.

The tournament, held July 30 at the Canyon Club at Four Hills, set a variety of records and helped set the stage for the Foundation’s Broader Horizons Campaign, its most aggressive fundraising and granting effort to date.

“Our golfers had a lot of fun, the Canyon Club was a fantastic host, and folks came to know a lot more about the things we do to help benefit classrooms in the district,” said Foundation Executive Director Phill Casaus.

The presenting sponsor of the tournament was B&D Industries Inc. The exclusive title sponsor was Grand Canyon University and the super sponsor was Technology Integration Group (TIG).

In just its third year, the SuperCup has become one of the top tournaments in Albuquerque, drawing a mixture of school personnel, partners and community members.

“I’m also so grateful to our volunteers from throughout the district,” Casaus said. “That includes members of the Foundation Board of Directors, the Junior ROTC programs from Albuquerque High and Sandia High, and folks who just want to help. They always say golf is an individual sport, but at the grassroots, it’s about team. We have a great one.”
