Student of the Week Solara Tafoya

5th grader at Griegos Elementary School

Nusenda Credit Union, in partnership with the APS Education Foundation, highlights an APS student each week.

Solara’s school experience: I have fantastic teachers who have helped to prepare me for upcoming grades. Next year, when I go to middle school, I will remember all the strategies my teachers have taught me. I know how to problem-solve, figure out percents, and understand what I am reading.

Favorite subjects: My favorite subjects in school are history, math, art and reading. But there’s really not a subject I don’t like.  I just like learning!

Hobbies and activities: I like playing soccer at recess every day. Usually, I am the only girl on the field playing, so I have had to prove I can play just as good as the boys. My family supports me in activities both at school and after school.  I am involved in karate and soccer. I also keep busy by raising chickens, training my dog to do tricks, and making movies.
