Congratulations to Ryan Goode, a 7th grader at Truman Middle School, for being named the Student of the Week by the New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union and the APS Education Foundation.

Tell us a little about your school experience:

My middle school experience started a little hard then got easier now that I am used to the school and class standards. My goal is to stay on the Honor Roll. I have learned that grades mean everything when it comes to getting into college. I always try to do my best so when I get to college, I am ready to do well and get my master’s in marine biology.

What is your favorite subject?

My favorite subject is science. I have an awesome teacher, Mr. Madrid, and his class helps me with my dream job of becoming a marine biologist. Science contains projects and hands-on activities. Right now, we are working on a biome project and my group was assigned the oceans.

What are your hobbies or activities, both at school and outside of school?

My hobbies at school are participating in the Morning Announcement Club, MESA, and hanging out with my friends at lunch. Truman’s motto is “It’s Cool to be Smart and Kind” and so far it has always worked for me. Outside of school, I like to swim, hiphop dance and hang out with the kids in my neighborhood. I also have a great family and feel very blessed that they are in my life.
