Student of the Week: Maya Zambrano

Congratulations to Maya Zambrano, an 8th grader at Jefferson Middle School, for being named the Student of the Week by the New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union and the APS Education Foundation.

Tell us a little about your school experience:

Maya has enjoyed all her years of school, and has appreciated her first year at Jefferson Middle School this year. She has made many new friends and everyone has been very welcoming to her.  She likes all of her teachers very much. She plans to attend Early College Academy next school year.

What’s your favorite subject?

Maya’s favorite subject is science because of all the neat laboratory experiments she gets to do. She is inspired to pursue a career in science, maybe in the field of neuroscience.

What are your hobbies or activities, both at school and outside of school?

Maya plays viola for Albuquerque Junior Orchestra and has plans to join a swim team soon. She enjoys playing baseball and football with her family and friends.
