Student of the Week: Evelyn Hostutler

Congratulations to Evelyn Hostutler, a third grader at Ventana Ranch Elementary School, for being named the Student of the Week by the New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union and the APS Education Foundation!

What can a parent or teacher say about this student?

Evelyn is a hard working student. She is very inquisitive and shows a real passion for learning. She loves to write and express herself creatively through words and illustrations. Evelyn has a plethora of information about wolves and is always looking for ways to link her learning to wolves. Outside of school, Evelyn plays the piano. Also, Evelyn is passionate about the environment and takes an active role in her community to preserve nature.

Evelyn is a model student. She always arrives to class eager to learn, she is engaged, and gives her best on all academic assignments. She enjoys learning so much that she attends every academic after school function we hold.  She participated in the spelling bee, and loves science and art. She states that she is excited each day to come to school and he favorite part of the day is seeing what fun projects her teachers have in store for her.  Evelyn THANKS me each time she leaves my class for the lesson.

She is kind and respectful to her peers and teachers, is empathetic and shows concern for others well-being, and a great role model for her fellow students.  She is a great friend and enjoys the fact that school allows her to see her friends almost every day.  If she notices something that is not right she decides to be an active participant in trying to correct the situation.

What are your hobbies or favorite activities?

Her hobbies include: drawing, collecting different items from rocks to teddy bears, and lately riding her scooter.  She is involved in gymnastics and takes piano lessons.
