Student of the Week: Audrey Thompson

Congratulations to Audrey Thompson, a fifth grader at Arroyo del Oso Elementary School, for being named the Student of the Week by the New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union and the APS Education Foundation!

What can a parent say about this student? 
Audrey is an amazing person and student. She works very hard in school and does her best every day.  She has had many challenges in her life, but she has not let them slow her down.  For example, spelling is not easy for her, but she signed up for her school spelling bee and memorized hundreds of words in a few weeks.  Audrey is generous with her time and likes to help others.  She has served as a peer mediator.  This means she helped younger students peacefully work out disagreements on the playground.  She also volunteered to be a 5th grade ambassador, spending her recess time assisting a second grade teacher and class.

What’s this student’s favorite subject?
Audrey loves math and wants to get even better at it!

What are this student’s hobbies or activities, both at school and outside of school?
Audrey plays the guitar, plays volleyball, and takes gymnastics classes.  She likes to draw "chibi" characters and she is a good cook and baker.
