Nearly 200 pieces of art mostly by APS high school students but also by a few art teachers and a couple of professional artists will be auctioned during the third annual A is for Art! gala beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at the Albuquerque Museum.

Student-created jewelry, ceramics, paintings, watercolors, mixed media, drawings and photography will be auctioned with a percentage of the proceeds going to the student artists and the rest going to benefit the APS Fine Arts Program and the APS Education Foundation.

Artwork by a few high school art teachers also will be auctioned, as well as a painting by legendary artist Edward Gonzales. In addition, Wells Fargo has donated an oil painting titled "Navajo Squaw Dance" by Clovis artist Jayne Simmons Williams to be auctioned.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for students and are available by going to the Foundation’s website, or calling 878-6165.
