Robotics, ceramic arts, project-based learning, a greenhouse, reading seeds, a wildlife field guide, water conservation and reclamation, iPads for inquiry and independence, family literacy – these are only a few of the 25 innovative proposals funded last spring by the APS Education Foundation Horizon Awards. These grant projects are being implemented this year to enhance student achievement and increase interest and enthusiasm in classrooms across the district.

The deadline for submitting an application for the Fall 2013 cycle is this Monday, September 23, at 4:30p.m.

Don’t miss out! The new online process makes it easier than ever to apply for up to $1,500 for individual teachers and up to $5,000 for a school team. Your proposal must improve learning in one of four key areas: Fine Arts, Middle/High School Clubs and Activities, Literacy and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math.)

The APS Education Foundation Board of Directors is eagerly awaiting the new group of proposals to read and determine funding. Applicants will be notified in about a month whether or not their grant will be awarded.

We encourage applications for projects that enhance student achievement, innovate new ways to teach and learn, and can be used as a model for other classrooms and schools within the district. The application is open to all APS traditional schools and schools of choice.

Don’t let this opportunity to make a difference in your classroom or school pass you by. Take the time over the next few days to fill out the application that can help you innovate and create new interest in learning.

Apply for an APS Education Foundation Horizon Award and rock your classroom!
