Lion King tickets and landscape photography make great presents and help our kids

December 14, 2011

Below are a couple of holiday-shopping opportunities that also have an added bonus – you can help the APS Education Foundation!

The Foundation has been afforded the opportunity to sell tickets to the Oct. 11, 2012 performance of Disney’s “The Lion King” – the smash Broadway musical coming to Albuquerque  this fall.

By purchasing tickets through the Foundation, you are participating in a fundraiser, and yes, paying a slightly higher price than you would when tickets go on sale to the public. But when you buy your tickets now, you and your family are guaranteed to have a terrific seat for a production that had Broadway audiences buzzing for years. And you’ll watch it in the state’s premier fine arts venue, Popejoy Hall on the University of New Mexico campus. Tickets are going fast!

The Foundation believes all children should be exposed to the finest in Fine Arts. We have already purchased 50 tickets that will go into a lottery so children and families of limited means may see the show. By helping the Foundation, you guarantee we will be able to continue this kind of work, which benefits the 90,000 children in APS.

We thank you for your consideration, we thank you for caring about kids, and we hope you enjoy the show!

Buy your tickets now!

Here are a few things to remember:

  • This very special performance is Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at 7:30 p.m.
  • Tickets through the Foundation range from $50 to $150 apiece.
  • Clicking one of the Add to Cart buttons will take you to Pay Pal, which will process your purchase electronically.
  • At that point, the Foundation will be notified of the purchase and will inform the ticket distributor to earmark your seats in the area you chose.
  • Once the Foundation receives the tickets from the ticket distributor, the APS Education Foundation will mail the tickets to you. Due to the holiday season, we will be unable to have you pick up the tickets before Christmas. Your tickets will be mailed in early January.

For more information, contact the Foundation at 505-878-6165 or email casaus@aps.edu.

Thanks, and enjoy the show!

Award-winning photographer Dan Caldemeyer’s gift is the ability to capture nature in its purest, rawest form. In many ways, it’s the gift that keeps on giving.
Caldemeyer has donated more than 100 original prints to the APS Education Foundation, which is putting them on sale through the Foundation’s Web site,  www. apseducationfoundation.org.

“Dan’s donation to the Foundation was totally unexpected and his work is just amazing,” Casaus said.

Caldemeyer’s prints, which come in a variety of sizes, may be purchased on the Education Foundation website. Prices range from $30-$90. For information, contact Casaus at 878-6165 or Casaus@aps.edu.

Some of Caldemeyer’s work will be donated to schools within the district in hopes of encouraging children to explore art, photography and nature.

Caldemeyer has lived throughout the U.S. and travels to shoots in a motor home that allows him to get closer to his subjects. The work he’s donated to the Foundation includes shots from New Mexico and the Southwest, but also other regions throughout the world.

“Dan has lived in New Mexico and cares deeply about education,” said Casaus. “We’re very grateful for his selfless gift to the Foundation.”

Caldemeyer’s portfolio can be seen at www.dancaldemeyer.com
