Holman's President and Wife Donate iPads to Los Ranchos ES

Tony Trujillo, President of Holman's Inc., and his wife Ann recently donated 10 iPads to the Autism Specific Program at Los Ranchos ES.

January 31, 2012

Research has shown that use of iPads produces remarkable results with autistic children.  Thanks to a major donation of 10 ipads to teacher Cristal Wilson's class at Los Ranchos ES, that statement is being verified on a daily basis.  Holman's, with Tony Trujillo as the driving force, has been a long time Join-a-School partner in the APS Education Foundation Business Partnerships program.

Students in Career Technical Education classes in several high schools have seen enhancement of their CAD (computer-aided drafting) curriculum, thanks to Holman's.  APS students have been able to hear professionals speak about career pathways and industry standards each year at the NM Professional Surveyors' Conference put on by the NM Dept. of Transportation.  Some students have been offered apprenticeship opportunities.

Holman's staff have supported career pathways by speaking to classes that emphasize CAD, surveying, GPS and GIS systems, and other career skills.  They have spoken to middle school students and encouraged women in the profession as well.  Each year for the past several years Holman's has participated in the annual School to World event at the Albuquerque Convention Center, which is a business-sponsored career event for 8th and 9th graders.

Last year Holman's supported the annual APS School Supply Drive to provide support for students whose families could not afford the cost of new school supplies.  Thanks to Holman's for being a great community partner to our public schools!
