Dion's Green Chile Ranch Dressing to go to Highest Bidder

The APS Education Foundation and APS Athletics are joining forces with Dion's to create a benefit online auction for a case of Dion’s Green Chile Ranch dressing – in advance of the product’s much-anticipated debut.

Green Chile Ranch dressing just might create a little green for students in Albuquerque Public Schools.

Dion’s, the APS Education Foundation and the Albuquerque Public Schools Athletic Department are joining forces to create a benefit online auction for a case of Dion’s Green Chile Ranch dressing – in advance of the product’s much-anticipated debut.

The Foundation opened an online auction that will run through Friday at 10 p.m. The winner will receive a case of Green Chile Ranch, with proceeds benefitting both the Foundation and APS Athletics.

Dion’s introduced Green Chile Ranch as a test product in Las Cruces several weeks ago, and sold out in 10 minutes. Marketing Director Deena Crawley said, “people have driven from as far away as Phoenix and Tucson to get a taste,” and the company has confirmed that a bottle sold for $100 in Albuquerque.

Foundation Executive Director Phill Casaus said the online auction idea seemed a good one given the anticipation of the wide-scale release, and Dion’s longstanding support of both athletics and academic programs within APS.

“Football season also begins Wednesday with the East-West Kickoff Clash, so it’s pretty much a natural,” he said.

Casaus noted that the auction is a fundraiser – once in wide release, the product will be available for $3.50 per bottle.

“We think people will want to have fun with this, and support our schools and athletic department at the same time,” he said.
