APS Supporters Who Shopped at Whole Foods Helped Raise Nearly $3,500

The APS Education Foundation fundraiser supports students and classrooms across the district.

Shoppers who stopped by the Whole Foods Market at the corner of Wyoming and Academy last week helped raise thousands of dollars for student programs through the APS Education Foundation.

The healthy grocery store donated 5 percent of its sales on Thursday, Jan. 17, to the Foundation, which raises money for APS students and classrooms in four key areas: Fine Arts, Middle/High School Activities, Literacy and Science/Technology/Engineering/Math.

The fundraiser netted $3,469,85.

"Whole Foods has been a great partner for the district as a whole for many years. We really don’t have words to express our appreciation for what they’ve done for the Foundation – it’s simply a wonderful thing," said APS Education Foundation Executive Director Phill Casaus. "The folks there are just another example of how business believes in public education and the kids of Albuquerque.”
