APS Education Foundation Names Two New Board Members

Jeff Cain of Sandia Area Federal Credit Union and Albuquerque lawyer Traci Olivas will serve on the board of directors that oversees the work of the Foundation.

Jeff Cain and Traci Olivas, community leaders with deep roots and commitment to public education, will join the board of directors for the APS Education Foundation in December.

The board of directors oversees the work of the Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that works toward fulfilling the educational goals of Albuquerque Public Schools.

Cain is the vice president of marketing for Sandia Area Federal Credit Union and is a product of APS, having graduated from Highland High School, Hayes Middle School and Mark Twain Elementary. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from New Mexico State University in 1989.

Olivas is a lawyer with the Albuquerque firm of  Sutin, Thayer & Browne, practicing primarily in the areas of commercial litigation, tort law and creditors’ rights. She graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2011 and Texas A&M University in 2007. She attended schools in Moriarty and Los Lunas before graduating from high school in Amarillo, Texas.

“Our board of directors is something we’re very proud of at the Foundation, in large part because the people on it have a huge affection for public education,” said Foundation Executive Director Phill Casaus. “Traci and Jeff will be wonderful additions and will help us become even more effective as we advocate for the students of APS.”
