Friday, Sept. 14, is the deadline for applying for the Fall 2012 Horizon Awards sponsored by the APS Education Foundation. The awards provide between $1,500 and $5,000 to projects in four areas:

  • Literacy
  • Fine arts
  • Science/technology/engineering/math and
  • Middle and high school activities.

In the past two years, the Horizon Awards have put tens of thousands of dollars into classrooms throughout the district, impacting thousands of students.

A committee of the Foundation’s Board of Directors selects recipients based on their efforts to provide innovative, quality educational opportunities to students in APS.

“We believe the Horizon Awards have been a great success, but of course there’s plenty more to do,” said Foundation Executive Director Phill Casaus.

Applications for the Horizon Awards will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14. For more information call the Foundation office at 878-6165.
