APS Education Foundation Announces the 2018 Best In Class Nominees

The annual Gold Bar Gala will recognize three outstanding projects funded by APS Education Foundation grants on April 27, 2018.

Best In Class is a designation reserved for school projects that have successfully grown as a best practice.  The Foundation’s role is to fund innovative projects that impact student achievement.  The goal is to spread successful programs to more schools so more students have access to them, and therefore, more opportunities to succeed.

Amy Tapia of Sandia National Laboratories serves as this year’s Best In Class Chair and writes, “Best In Class recognizes schools that are effectively using private and corporate funding from the APS Education Foundation to implement innovative teaching strategies that advance student learning.”

The Foundation’s Board of Directors’ Disbursement Committee chose the three nominees.  “The APS Education Foundation has a Board of Directors who review qualified candidates for Best In Class and they make the ultimate decision for the final three nominees,” explains Shannon Barnhill, Executive Director the APS Education Foundation.

Now that the three nominees have been announced, the community is asked to vote for the Best In Class winner.  The winner will receive $15,000 of funding for their program, and will be announced the night of the Gold Bar Gala.

The 2018 Best In Class nominees are…

Cleveland Middle School – 1+ 2 Colt Clubs Activity Day

Coronado Elementary School – La Prensa Newsletter

E.G. Ross Elementary School – Literacy through STEALTH MAKERSPACE
