Fall 2012 Horizon Grant Takes Lew Wallace ES Students Around the World
Students in the LWES gifted program read the Jules Verne classic and prepared a global experience to be shared by the entire school. The multi-disciplinary project-based experience included reading and discussing the novel and researching places Phineas Fogg and Passepartout visited on their 1872 journey.

It's never too early to start thinking abotu A is for Art!, and we're already making plans for the 2013 gala.

When it comes to A is for Art!, the gala/fundraiser/fun raiser put on by the APS Education Foundation, this is lucky '13.

Plans are continuing for the 2013 event, scheduled for Friday, Sept. 20 at a new venue -- the beautiful and spacious Hotel Albuquerque.

"We're excited about the event, because if you think you've seen A is for Art! and know what it's about, we'll provide plenty of surprises," said APS Education Foundation Executive Director Phill Casaus. “We'll  celebrate kids in both visual and vocal arts, plus great musicians, but we'll also have some cool new things."

Key sponsors are lining up for the event, and the Foundation has a new and improved sponsorship packet.

Last year's event raised thousands on behalf of the Foundation and the Fine Arts Department, with student artists also receiving a percentage of the sales of their work.

In 2012, famed local artist Edward Gonzales donated a piece to the event which sold for more than $4,000.
