APS Employee United Way Campaign Gears Up Soon

Pledge forms will be delivered the week of Sept. 30, and employees have lots of donation choices including the APS Education Foundation.

The 2013-14 APS Employees’ United Way Campaign will kick off on Sept. 30, with pledge forms being delivered to all schools and support sites in the district.

“It’s an exciting time, because APS employees are among the biggest givers and most generous folks in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County,” said APS Education Foundation Executive Director Phill Casaus.

Pledge forms will be delivered through interoffice mail on the week of Sept. 30. All pledge forms must be returned to the Foundation, which is located at 6400 Uptown Blvd. N.E., Suite 630 East.

Employees may donate to any registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit and the APS Education Foundation, which plows the money it receives through the campaign back into Horizon Awards – in-classroom grants available to teachers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), Fine Arts, Middle/High School Activities and Literacy. Since the fall of 2010, more than $400,000 has gone into district classrooms through Horizon.

The United Way campaign will continue through Nov. 27. Schools interested in hearing a presentation on United Way’s impact in the community may schedule them through the Foundation at 878-6165.

“United Way is just another way our employees contribute to making Albuquerque a great place to live,” Superintendent Winston Brooks said.
