18th Annual APS Sports Fund Golf Tournament to be Held June 1

The tournament raises money for middle school and C team sports.

April 12, 2012

A tradition of commitment to kids continues this spring as preparations gear up for the 18th Annual APS Sports Fund Golf Tournament, scheduled for June 1 at Arroyo Del Oso Golf Course (map).

The tournament has raised more than $1 million for middle school and C team sports at Albuquerque Public Schools. Tournament director Chris Gibbon says the community’s interest in the event – and its concern about the well-being of students – has been key to its success.

“The tournament has done wonders for many, many kids in APS, and that’s due in large part to the people and businesses of Albuquerque who care about kids,” Gibbon said. “I think that’ll continue again this year with our best tournament yet.”

The tournament is presented by Dion’s.

Two flights are scheduled, one beginning with a 6:30 a.m. registration and 7:30 a.m. shotgun start. The afternoon flight begins at 12:30 p.m. with registration; golfers open play at 1 p.m.. Fees are $1,250 per team and $325 per person, with a four-person scramble format.

Fees include breakfast, lunch and awards for both flights. The breakfast and lunch will be presented by Applebee’s.

For more information on the tournament, contact Gibbon at 830-8127 or cgibbon@nmb-t.com, or Chris Ritchie (884-1202; critchie@cpgconsultingllc.com.
