Suits Unlimited, Foundation combine on Tuxes 4 Teachers

The Albuquerque Public Schools Education Foundation, Join-A-School and Suits Unlimited are joining in an innovative plan to help fund a program that helps teachers within the district.

The program, called Tuxes 4 Teachers, will contribute $10 toward Join-A-School's Seeds of Learning grant program with every tuxedo rented at Suits Unlimited, located at 5406 Menaul Blvd. N.E.

The Seeds of Learning program helps teachers update and enhance curriculum and access much-needed materials and classroom activities. Teachers have often paid for such expenses out of their own pockets.

"It's the kind of partnership we want to do more of, and we're grateful to the folks at Suits Unlimited for being a part of it," said Foundation Executive Director Phill Casaus.

Join-A-School recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and has long been committed to garnering private support for schools. The Foundation is in the midst of its first-ever Horizon Campaign, an effort to raise $1 million toward Fine Arts, Classroom Teacher Mini-Grants, Literacy and Middle/High School Activities.

"Kids and teachers are important to the city, so we wanted to help them," said Steven Garcia of Suits Unlimited, himself a graduate of Sandia High School. "We're looking forward to this being a great success during prom season.
