RayLee Homes Partners with the APS Sports Fund to Build the "Apple House"

RayLee Homes: A New Generation

RayLee Homes: A New Generation, in partnership with the APS Sports Fund, is building the first-ever "Apple House" - a home that will be constructed and sold to benefit the Albuquerque Public Schools Education Foundation. The Apple House, still in its planning stages, is scheduled to break ground in the spring of 2010.

"RayLee Homes is excited to embark on this new project in support of our community's youth," said Tammy Grady-Thornton of RayLee Homes: A New Generation. "We are grateful to our industry partners for their donations of time and materials in order to make this project as successful as possible."

RayLee Homes has long been a supporter of APS and the Foundation. The company, established in 1976 by Scott and Laura Grady, is a title sponsor of the APS Celebrity Golf Extravaganza, which raised $58,000 in May to benefit middle school and C-team athletics within the district. The Grady family also has contributed directly to schools, including Corrales Elementary School.

"Some people talk about giving back to their communities, but the Grady family does more than talk," said Foundation Executive Director Phill Casaus. "I believe they help kids in Albuquerque because they genuinely want to be good neighbors in the community. It's not lip service. For them, it's action. And we're very grateful for it."

The Foundation has just kicked off its inaugural Horizon Campaign, its first attempt to raise $1 million from businesses and private sources. Horizon Campaign funds will largely be directed toward literacy, fine arts, classroom teacher mini-grants and middle school/high school activities within the district.
