Gerald Martin Construction joins Horizon Campaign as the effort picks up speed

Momentum continues to build for the APS Education Foundation's Horizon Campaign, with respected local contractor Gerald Martin Construction signing on to help.

"Gerald Martin has long been one of the most respected names in the industry throughout New Mexico, and the company has helped build schools within APS," said Foundation Executive Director Phill Casaus. "We are so gratified to have them aboard."

Gerald Martin joins a growing list of local companies to become part of the campaign, which aims to raise $1 million within the school year in support of Fine Arts, Middle/High School Activities, Classroom Teacher Mini-Grants and Literacy.

Also aboard are local contractors Anchor Built and Bradbury Stamm, plus PNM, Intel, Don Chalmers Ford, Sandia National Laboratories and Wells Fargo.
PNM recently announced it will donate $50,000 toward literacy projects in Albuquerque Public Schools through the Horizon Campaign.

“The Public Service Company of New Mexico’s commitment to schoolchildren  in Albuquerque is nothing new, but we are pleased and grateful that the company is on board with the Horizon Campaign,” said Casaus. “PNM’s partnership with the Foundation and the district will no doubt help move the bar in education.”

The Horizon Campaign, launched in September, is the Foundation’s first-ever attempt to raise $1 million on behalf of district programs.

In addition, the Foundation has received  commitments from the Larry H. Miller Foundation as well as the APS Sports Fund.

Since announcing the campaign, the Foundation has received nearly a quarter-million dollars in commitments from individuals and businesses in the Albuquerque area.

"We know very well that we have a long way to go," said Casaus. "But we're grateful for the community spirit and interest our partners have shown in the Horizon Campaign."
