APS Education Foundation

The APS Education Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization established for promoting private support of the district and its students. In partnership with Albuquerque Public Schools, we promote and garner financial and in-kind resources to provide students with the opportunity to succeed. We also mobilize resources and develop community partnerships to support excellence in APS.

We believe in students and teachers in Albuquerque Public Schools. It's as simple as that.

We believe in graduating classes that send students to Princeton, Stanford and Duke. We believe in kids who point toward success with the University of New Mexico, New Mexico State and CNM as their next stops.

We believe in kids who get themselves work-ready, not just college ready.

You know why? Because we saw it happen in 2015.

That's why we work to raise private funding and public support for the students of this district. Since 2010, the Foundation has placed well more than $1 million directly into classrooms throughout APS, and this year alone, we'll create nearly a half-million in funding at both classroom and school level.

Do we do that by raising money? Absolutely. But just as important, we help raise awareness about the good things and great people who are in our schools every day. Teachers. Support staff. Community volunteers. Administrators. And most of all, always above all – students.

We are proud of the kids in Albuquerque, and we believe community can help build the best urban school district in America. We know it’s possible, because APS students lead companies throughout our city – and are part of the great institutions in America. An APS student has flown in the Space Shuttle, played in the Super Bowl, saved the lives of our troops overseas.

With Acting APS Superintendent Raquel Reedy directing the district's efforts, we know APS is on its way to even greater heights. But no single entity -- particularly one as diverse as the state's largest school district -- can do it alone. That's why we need your support -- and your belief.

Group photoInitiatives

Toward our goal of academic success, the Foundation has created a variety of initiatives that will supplement key programs in need of your help. Among them: Fine Arts, Literacy and Science / Technology / Engineering / Math. The most public of these efforts is our Horizon Campaign, a fundraising effort that we'll use to help schools, classrooms and programs. Think of Horizon as a wheel with many spokes. Within our granting programs is help for clubs and activities, middle schools, and large needs from individual schools. To learn more about where our help goes, click on the Grants section of our navigation bar.

Broader Horizons In addition, we create events that include our students. A is for Art!, the foundation's annual gala, raises money and public awareness for arts in our schools. Miles for Minds, a new fun run, helps support health programs. And if that weren't enough, we help raise money for the APS Community Clothing Bank, which helps get needed garments to children of limited means.
