PNM Celebration

  1. The Foundation has raised more than $700,000 in cash, in-kind donations and pledges for the Horizon Campaign – a push to energize private funding for Fine Arts, Middle/High School Activities, Classroom Teacher Mini-Grants and Literacy programs within the district. Major community players and APS employees through the United Way campaign have led this effort, the first of its kind in Foundation history.
  2. The Foundation launched A is for Art!, a benefit art auction that raised more than $78,000 in cash and in-kind donations for APS Fine Arts in 2010. The 2011 A is for Art! celebration is scheduled for Sept. 9 at the Albuquerque Museum.
  3. The Foundation distributed more than $90,000 in Horizon Awards in 2011.
  4. The Foundation, working with partners throughout the district, Board of Education members and the APS leadership team, helped reach out to key players in the community. The result: a terrific start for the Horizon Campaign that has us nearly three-quarters of the way to our goal of $1 million.
  5. The Foundation partnered with smaller firms and individual contributors to support both the Horizon Campaign and individual projects like the Elementary School Honor Choir.
  6. With the help of Pepsi, the Foundation instituted the APS teacher-of-the-month award, which honors fine teachers at elementary, middle and high schools.
  7. The Foundation has partnered with Clear Channel to place electronic billboards at Manzano, Eldorado, Del Norte and Cibola high schools, with district-wide and Foundation messaging possible with the flip of a switch.
  8. Thanks to committed APS employees, the Foundation-run 2010 United Way campaign netted more than $280,000 for the greater Albuquerque community, a record.
  9. Thanks to RayLee Homes: A New Generation, the first-ever Apple House was built. Proceeds from the sale of this beautiful home on Albuquerque's West Side will help fund Foundation projects through the Horizon Campaign.
  10. The Foundation is a sponsor of the APS Celebrity Golf Extravaganza, which helps fund a mini-grant fund for middle school athletics and activities programs. The tournament raised nearly $60,000 in 2011, and allows individual middle schools to buy needed supplies like uniforms.
