The Schools & Community Partnerships Department builds relationships with the business community, government agencies, and post-secondary institutions to enhance educational success for students.

Tips For Parents

• Know what is expected of your child academically by staying in regular contact with your child’s teacher and by celebrating success.
• Offer to volunteer in the classroom, or in another capacity at the school. The more directly your volunteer time relates to learning, the better.
• Support learning at home and in the community by getting into a regular homework routine and looking for educational resources and activities in your community.
• Ask your school counselor, representative or family liaison how to access services available to your child and family. Ask your principal and PTA/PTO representative how you can have a voice in decision-making at the school and district levels.

Albuquerque Community Learning Center Project

This program is a joint project between APS and UNM that provides after school and summer learning opportunities working closely with eight APS elementary schools:

• Dolores Gonzales
• Eugene Field
• Kirtland
• La Luz
• Longfellow
• Lowell
• Reginald Chavez
• Whittier

Albuquerque Reads

Collaborates with the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of commerce to recruit and manage volunteers for the kindergarten literacy program at:

• Atrisco
• Bel Air
• Wherry Elementary Schools
