Curriculum and Instruction

  • Designs training and support for K-12 Principals, Instructional Coaches, and Teachers in core programs
  • Provides support for Core programs
  • Provides professional development for Response to Intervention (RTI) and Tier 1 and Tier 2 programs
  • Supports the implementation of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English Language Arts and Mathematics, and New Mexico State Standards for other core content areas.

One of the professional development goals for APS is Differentiating Instruction, along with Data and Leadership.

"The goal of differentiating instruction is to increase the likelihood that students will be successful learners. A good way to enhance students' chances for success is to get to know them and to understand how they differ from one another in interests, learning preferences and pace, readiness and motivation." (Diane Heacox - Differentiating Instruction in the Regular Classroom)

This video shows APS students giving thoughtful answers to what they would like teachers to know about them.
