A Taste Test at East San Jose ES

Green smoothie school-wide taste test.

The 5th grade Student Health Council at East San Jose Elementary School partnered with APS/FoodCorps Service Member, Natalie Donnelly, and their amazing P.E. teacher sponsor, Cynthia Grajeda, to create a school-wide taste test on Friday the 13th (December 2013).  “Green Smoothies” (bananas, pineapple juice, strawberries and spinach) were made by the students harnessing their energies to the blender bike.  Students voted their opinions via a sticker chart after tasting in the cafeteria during lunch, and the results?  Almost everyone “really LIKED it”!  (Students left to right are:  Mayrene Vasquez, Yamel Ruelas, Kristal McCoy, Jesus Loera, and Eva Gonzales.)
