APS Holds Public Meeting on Charter Renewals

Ten Albuquerque area charter schools are seeking a renewal of their contract with the Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education this year.

They include:

  • ACE Leadership High School
  • Academy of Trades and Technology Charter School
  • Albuquerque Talent and Development Academy
  • Corrales International School
  • Cottonwood Classical Preparatory School
  • El Camino Real Academy
  • Health Leadership High School
  • La Resolana Leadership Academy
  • Montessori of the Rio Grande
  • Technology Leadership High School.

The Albuquerque Public Schools Office of Innovation and School Choice will hold a public meeting at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 24 in the John Milne Board Room of the APS Building located at 6400 Uptown Blvd. NE.  During the meeting, each charter school will give a short presentation and the public will have an opportunity to give feedback to the APS Charter School Office.  That feedback will be included in the renewal recommendation to the APS Board of Education in December.

“This is an opportunity for all stakeholders in the community to give their thoughts on the ten charter schools that are applying to be renewed with APS,” said Dr. Joseph Escobedo, APS Director of Charter Schools.  “We encourage everyone who wants to tell us about these charter schools to make their voices known.”

If you are unable to attend the meeting, you may email your comments to Escobedo_j@aps.edu by November 30, 2017.
