APS Accepting Charter School Renewal Applications

Application deadline is Tuesday, October 3

Albuquerque Public Schools is accepting applications for new charter schools.  The deadline to submit a letter of intent is Tuesday, October 3.  Applicants shall use the Albuquerque Public Schools Renewal Application.  All documents shall be emailed to the APS Director of Charter Schools Joseph Escobedo at Escobedo_j@aps.edu or submitted through a USB/Thumb Drive. 

Those charters schools who are up for renewal and would like to have training on the renewal application should contact APS Director of Charter Schools Joseph Escobedo at Escobedo_j@aps.edu

An applicant may submit a renewal application to either a school district in which the charter school is to be located or to the Public Education Commission (PEC) to be considered for a state-chartered charter school.  The completed application may be submitted to only one authorizer – either the district OR the PEC.   

Current law provides that all renewal applications for charter schools must be filed no later than Tuesday, October 3, 2017 to have a fully executed contract before the expiration of the current contract which is June 30, 2017.
