Albuquerque Public Schools offers Summer Extended Learning Programs to meet the academic needs of students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. APS Summer Extended Learning Programs provide students with academic intervention, remediation and/or academic advancement to assist them in meeting standards.
The programs offered during the summer are high quality intervention programs. Data on the success of these programs are analyzed at the completion of the program.
Many factors affect a student’s success in the program including attendance, degree to which the student already meets grade level standards, and fidelity to program implementation. Every effort is made to provide a quality experience for students from intensive professional development, low student-teacher ratios and on-site Instructional Support.
All courses are aligned with grade level standards. Course frameworks and/or curriculum maps are available for every course taught in the summer. It is critical to establish the expectation that the frameworks and/or curriculum maps will be adhered to.
High School
The emphasis of the summer intervention program in high school is to keep students on target for their original graduation date.
