APS Students Benefit From After School Programs

After school programs positively impact student attendance, academic performance and reduce high risk activities.

Research shows that student participation in after school programs is associated with:

  • Increased: student attendance; time spent on academic activities; cultural awareness; and family engagement in academics
  • Improved: academic performance; nutrition and physical fitness; and relationships / social skills AND
  • Reduced: high risk activities (substance use, crime, underage sex, etc.)
