APS Recognized for Outstanding Family Engagement Program

Albuquerque Public Schools was nationally recognized for ten years of commitment to the Family and Schools Together (FAST) program.

FAST Graduation

FAST is an evidence-based family engagement model that helps students thrive by building strong relationships with families and schools. This program has been supporting APS students for ten years through the generous support of the City of Albuquerque. Schools that have participated in FAST include; Alvarado, Dolores Gonzales, Edward Gonzales, Helen Cordero, La Mesa, Pajarito, Whittier, Wherry and Zia elementary schools.

The outcomes from FAST are nationally acclaimed, and include increased student attendance, academic performance and family engagement. Many schools report long-term gains in these areas. Each school has a team of five support staff that run an 8-week program. After graduating from the 8-week program, families are eligible for monthly support for up to two years.

APS is looking forward to another ten years of partnering with the City of Albuquerque and FAST national to provide this outstanding program.
