TIENET Information/Q & A

APS TIENET splash screen/login page

Overview

APS purchased a customized version of TIENET in 2007 in order to eliminate the gap in service that may occur when a student moves from school to school within the district and his or her special education file (the red file) may be delayed. While SchoolMax gives accessibility to certain special education information, specific documents such as the IEP are not included. TIENET was purchased to address this need, as well as others.

During April and May 2008, APS implemented this web based IEP document in high schools and with 8 th graders across the district. During 2008-09, TIENET will be implemented in the rest of the grades and schools in the district.

Evaluation documents and a placement page will be developed and tested during 2008-09 so that the implementation of those pieces can occur as soon as possible after that.

The IEP data entry sheets for SchoolMax will still have to be used until we get a placement screen working in TIENET. In addition, student demographic data that appears on a TIENET page come from SchoolMax and if you wish to change any of that data, you must continue to arrange to have those changes made directly in SchoolMax.

Rules regarding confidentiality of student-specific information apply to TIENET users just as it does to personnel who handle paper documents. APS refers users to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act at the following address: http://www.ed.gov/policy/gen/guid/fpco/ferpa/index.html
