Diagnostics

City Center
6400 Uptown Blvd. NE 87110
Phone: 505-855-9900

Student evaluation in APS is completed by more than 100 cluster based Educational Diagnosticians who are located throughout the district, both at individual school locations and at Aztec Complex. While the work performed by these individuals is supervised at their site locations, the Diagnostic Unit located at City Center provides the necessary support and services to these individuals.

The City Center staff consists of Wendy Shanahan, Diagnostic Coordinator; Barb Belcher, Diagnostic Liaison; and Luz Rodrigues, Materials Support Specialist. The unit also provides staff development and materials management support. This unit’s work involves the hiring and placement of Diagnosticians and support for both new hires and veteran evaluators. This support takes many forms, including staff development and the purchase, distribution, and tracking of evaluation tools and necessary technology (computers, printers, etc.).

While most questions regarding the evaluation and placement process can be answered successfully at the individual school or cluster locations, this office is also available to school administration, parents, and community members who are seeking information in this area. If there is a need to contact any of the staff members, they may be reached at City Center– 505-855-9900.
