LEARNING DISABILITIES—MATH INTIATIVES

The math unit provides professional development on identified scientifically research based and peer reviewed math programs. These programs are specifically designed for students with disabilities that impact math performance. The professional development also includes in-classroom support provided by math liaisons who assist teachers in making important changes in their teaching methodology and strategies.

The unit provides technical support to building administrators by providing observation tools, information on core replacement and supplemental programs, and guidelines for ensuring programs are delivered with fidelity. Ongoing assessment is a key component of the math programs and is carefully tracked at the district level.
