Mission Statement

The mission of San Antonito Elementary School is to create a stimulating, safe and respectful environment that produces high individual academic achievement and positive social experiences. The San Antonito staff and community will encourage our children to become successful and productive individuals ready to go on to the next step in life. In order to achieve this mission, we will engage in professional development opportunities, open communication, and building cohesive community relationships.

Dear Parents and Students,

The recent snow was beautiful! Please remember to write your child's name in permanent marker on all articles of clothing, backpacks, and lunch boxes. Dress them appropriately as we will be outside for recess on almost all occasions.

The Math series we use at San Antonito is called "Trailblazers." It is a research based program that has some very interesting differences from other programs with which you may be more familiar. A nunber of parents have commented to me that they never see math papers coming home. That will be true for most grades in this program. To get a clearer idea of what your student is learning I would encourage you to be in the classroom to observe Math Instruction. This program has many teacher directed, hands on activities that don't necessarily translate to take home dittos but do represent tremendous learning opportunities. Trailblazers provides the opportunity for students to learn to think and problem solve about Math in real life situations.

Thank you for reading to and with your children. It is a precious investment in their education.

Please call or e-mail me with any comments or concerns.

Sincerely,
Nancy Ledford, principal
