Field Trips
On October 22 we took a field trip to Las Golondrinas.  We got to see and learn about this Spanish colonial village.

This is the shed where they tanned the leather.  While on the trip we took notes in our booklets.
We learned that they used sorghum to make molasses.  It was a slow process.  The red plant the woman is holding is sorghum.

The blacksmith made many important tools
and utensils.
This is inside the lower part of the lookout hutch that the people used to protect their crops from enemies.

The mill was powered by water and was used to grind flour.                 This is inside the mill.

We had a wonderful trip to Las Golondrinas.  To find out more about Las Golondrinas you can visit their website at:

We went to the Albuquerque Aquarium in January.  We were able to look closely at some sea life.  Here the docent is showing us a sea urchin.
