Petroglyph PTA General Meeting

May 5, 2003

 

Attendees:  47 parents and staff

 

PTA President’s Welcome:  Michelle Maestes welcomed everyone and was encouraged by the large number in attendance.  Old business was discussed which included teacher appreciation Day May 7th with food from Zio’s, parent’s night out for next school year, and the delivery of the yearbooks.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Eric Cole reported a current balance of $31,645.00.  He presented figures outlining shortfall of fundraising dollars in relationship to obligated expenses.  Fundraising efforts were $11,375.00 short of projection.  Therefore, requiring $7,878.00 to be funded from reserves.  A motion was made and seconded to pay $7,878.00 shortfall from reserves thus reimbursing the full $22,500.00 for technology support staff to the Petroglyph activity fund.  This payment is per agreement signed April 22, 2002.  Motion carried.  Other issued addressed is that we need 3 volunteers to audit our books during the beginning of June.  This involves approx 3-4 hours of time.

 

Principal’s Report:  The executive committee for principal selection is in the process of composing criteria from parent and staff input forms.  Carolyn’s playground for the preschool program is in the planning phases.  Funding is from the legislature and school improvement money.

Staffing for 2003-2004 must be finalized by end of May.  The district has allocated us a .5 staff position.  Among our current staff, technology and literacy are the top priorities.  The teachers recommended continuing support of .5 technology coordinator, a motion was made and seconded for .25 FTE and the motion was declined.  Motion made to amend to .5 FTE for tech coordinator paid by net fundraising with shortfalls paid by Petroglyph activity funds.  Motion carried.

 

Presentation and voting of 2003-04 Officers:  Nominations from the floor were accepted and voted upon.

A motion was made and seconded, that PTA meetings for the 2003-04 school year remain on the 1st Monday of each month.  Motion carried.  Sept. 8th will be the first meeting.

 

Meeting adjourned at 8:25 to the computer lab for 1st/2nd grade presentation.
