Petroglyph Elementary PTA General Meeting

January 12, 2004

 

  • Eric Cole, PTA Co-President, welcomed all in attendance and reviewed the agenda.

 

  • Traci Cadigan, PTA Treasurer, announced that the current balance is $21,048.00 and reviewed the parent/teacher PTA feedback form which was given to all attendees upon arrival.

 

  • Mr. Jackson announced that with next year’s boundary changes we will have an increase of 50-60 students for 04-05.  With the enrollment of 21 new students we are currently out of compliance in primary (1-3 grades) and intermediate (4-5 grades).   He is currently seeking out solutions with our cluster.  Work to start soon on our new childfind playground.

 

  • Kim Cabanas, Vice-President, announced that parent’s night out is tentatively scheduled for Friday January 30th, sponsored by 3rd grade parents to benefit that grade level.  Yearbook planning to start soon, volunteers needed.

 

  • Kathy Cole, Secretary, is seeking a chairperson to plan our annual Jog-a-thon, which is scheduled for March 31-April 2nd.

 

  • Gary Cherniak gave an overview of legislative items including Governor Richardson’s proposed 4% bonus to teachers and the possible repel of the gross receipts tax.

 

  • Eric Cole reviewed future agenda items including grade level presentations, nominating committee for next years officers, bylaw revisions, 04-05 budget draft, and finance audit committee.  The floor was then opened for miscellaneous items from attendees.

 

  • Tia Turner gave an overview of the Petroglyph listserve.

 

  • Holly Smith asked that PTA donate unused school supplies, from several years ago, to a school in need in Santa Fe.  A motion was made, seconded and carried unanimously.

 

  • Annette Sloggett announced that with the anniversary of the death of Carolyn Thurmond-Rustvold approaching, a candlelight vigil would be held on Saturday Jan 17th at 5pm in Old Town.

 

  • Parking lot safety issues were addressed my Mr. Jackson.  He is currently working on solutions to several problems with the district.
