Petroglyph PTA

General Meeting

February 3, 2003

Welcome:          Michelle Maestas, PTA President and teacher, discussed old business.  The Cherrydale Farms Big Party was postponed until Feb 10th due to recent events in the APS community.  The next parent’s night out is scheduled for Feb 21st.  She reminded everyone to vote tomorrow for the bond issue and mill levy.

Treasurers

Report:              In Eric’s absence, Kathy Cole announced that the balance is currently $26,747.36.  Our next big expenditure will be the water bottles for jog-a-thon.

Fundraisers:       Kathy Cole announced that we would be using fewer volunteers for yearbook due to the computer software that we will be using this year.  Everyone is urged to submit photos either electronically or in print form soon.  Jog-A-Thon is being chaired by Julie and Joe Makatura.  They have sent letters to local businesses requesting donations of prizes for students.  Several parent volunteers will be making phones calls and collecting donations as we approach this March event.

Principals

Report:              Joyce Jaime reported that we received an enormous amount of support following our loss of Carolyn Thurman Rustvold.  Standardized testing of students will be starting soon with more information coming home with students soon.  The climbing wall for our gym has arrived, and we are awaiting installation by the district.

Join-a-School:     Heather and Angelica, our partnership coordinators, introduced J.D. Enciso, General Manager of TGIFridays.  He is enthusiastic about reestablishing this partnership with Petroglyph.
