General Meeting

December 2, 2002

 

                                               

Welcome:          Michelle Maestas, PTA President and teacher, announced that we have made $11,000 on the Cherrydale Farms fundraiser.  The first parent’s night out was successful, we watched 33 children.

 

 

Fundraisers:       Kim Cabanas, vice-president announced that we would be starting yearbook soon with one deadline in March.  The yearbook will be full color this year, and we will have a student contest for the cover art.  Book fair will be the week of Dec. 9th.

 

Legislative

Report:              Gary Cherniak provided information concerning the Albuquerque Teacher’s Federation.  Current issues include professionalism, compensation, and a re-vamping of the evaluation procedure. 

 

 

Principals

Report:              Joyce Jaime reported that we have received new equipment for the computer lab.  PC’s that are 3 years old will be move to individual classrooms.

                        We will be losing a first grade teacher as we enter winter break; she has had several applicants in a short time frame.  We are all urged to vote on the bond issue in February.  A number of our teachers have chosen to dedicate a Saturday to professional development.

 

Parent’s Night

Out:                  Friday December 13th, 6:00-9:00

                        $5 per child  Fliers to go home this week.

Treasurers

Report:              Eric Cole stated that we have a balance of $42,000 currently.  We will be paying Cherrydale Farms soon.  We need to make our donation to Bernalillo County PTA Clothing Bank, we have budgeted $200.00.  Annette Sloggett announced that we still need a volunteer to coordinate the clothing bank; Frieda Thompson volunteered to take on this responsibility.      

                       

7:40                  Michelle awarded door prizes and announced that we will be starting grade level presentations next month.  Traci Cadigan suggested that letters be sent home to the parent’s of students in the corresponding grade.  Meeting adjourned.
